I am so deeply sorry to hear this. My condolences to the family. I worked with Andrea on medicine at the Juravinski hospital. She was alway happy and smiling. I recently seen her for a couple of weeks on my floor as a nurse educator and told her that I had voted for her with ONA. She always had lunch with the nurses even when she was in a different role. My sincerest condolences to the loved ones of Andrea. You are all in my thoughts and prayers at this time.
I met Andrea in the fall of 2017, where she was a supply Clinical Instructor for my Level III BScN clinical placement at Juravinski Hospital on C3 Oncology. In that first meeting, I knew that she was caring, passionate, and so knowledgeable in the field of nursing. After my graduation, we were colleagues at SJHH and I would see Andrea in the ER as she was a hemodialysis RN and would treat some of our patients in the department.
Fast forward to January 2021, I began my career as a clinical instructor at Mohawk College & McMaster University. Cynthia Hammond, our mentor, paired me with Andrea to mentor and guide me as I started my teaching career. Andrea was so passionate, caring, loving, funny, and knowledgeable. She took me under her wing and supported me. We had so many laughs on breaks together and talked about our travels, and of course, nursing. I will never forget her, and was blessed to have her in my life as a nurse, teacher, colleague, mentor and friend. Anyone who knows her, knows that she lights up a room and inspires those around her to great and selfless, just like her. Andrea, I will miss you. Thank you for being part of my life. Until we meet again...

I met Andrea at the College of Nurses as elected Council members. We soon discovered that we both nursed at Hamilton General. I always enjoyed my conversations with Andrea. She had such a passion toward nursing. She experienced it all. From direct patient care to education to the adventure of flight nursing. I admired her ambition. Such a loss to the nursing profession. My heartfelt condolences to her bereaved family, deeply sad with the news. I worked beside Andrea just a week ago at the dialysis unit at St. Joseph’s Hospital. She was a very good nurse, passionate doing her job, always willing to help. Even we only shared time at work we had a connection instantly, she loved to try speaking in Spanish to me every time I was around her and she did really well. I will never forget the Chai tea she liked to drink and she gave me one box of that tea that I loved and I still have some. Andrea was part of our Hamilton General ER family. We are all very sad. She always added a spark to the place, so full of life! She was very proud to be a nurse, to work in the ER and she loved her family. That was apparent to all who knew her.
