Obituary of Ilinka Kozjak

May 2, 1937 – August 5, 2021

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Ilinka Kozjak (nee Adamovic).  After a courageous battle, Ilinka passed peacefully on Thursday, August 5, 2021 with her family by her side.  Beloved wife of 56 years to Mirko Kozjak and loving and devoted mother to Alex (Luisa).  Much loved sister of Jelica and her late husband Boris, Bata (Zlata), Stana, Dragan and the late Jovanka. Cherished aunt to her many nieces and nephews but especially close to Aleks and Milijana and to her extended Crkvenvjas family of Sinisa (Dragana).  Dear sister in law of Milena and the late Dusan and kumovi Knezevic and Stupar’s of Hamilton.  Ilinka was a beautiful soul, with care and love for all of those around her.  She touched everyone’s heart that she came into contact with her compassion. Words cannot describe the pain we are feeling and the hole that will forever be left in our hearts with her passing.  Ilinka immigrated from Ruma, Jugoslavia in 1968 to Hamilton and made an impact on many lives over the years, sponsoring others to come to Canada with a heart that was as large as her family.  She was a member of the St. Nicholas Serbian Orthodox Cathedral and will be sadly missed by many, including family and friends in Canada and abroad.  The family would also like to thank the staff at Lakeview Retirement Centre and the Cardiac Unit at Hamilton General Hospital for their compassion and care.  Should someone wish to make a donation in her memory the family asks to contribute to St. Nicholas Serbian Orthodox Cathedral or the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada.  Family and friends will be received at the Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek on Wednesday, August 11, 2021 from 12 p.m. until the time of service in the Chapel at 1 p.m. with The Very Reverend Father Djuro Samac officiating.  Interment to follow at Eastlawn Cemetery, 2280 Barton St E, Hamilton.  Notes of sympathy and condolence may be made at www.donaldvbrown.ca
