I was shocked and saddened, hearing of Lynne's sudden passing. In June, 2019, I brought my Thai wife from Bahrain (where we were living at the time) to Canada for a short holiday, to see my family who are spread across Canada. Each time I return to Canada, I try to come back to Woodburn where I grew up and worked on many farms. I clearly remember working for Lynne's dad, Art Topp, bringing in grain, cleaning pig pens, picking apples and cutting dead apple trees with a crosscut saw. And of course, the men played euchre in the apple orchard while my brother Alvin and I worked. Lynne's mom, Louise, cooked for me and even dried our clothes when my best friend, Johnny Lawson, and I fell through the ice when skating on the flats beside 20 creek. Lynne and her brother Wayne were a few years older than my brother and I but we followed them through public and high school.
I stopped by Harold Switzer's old farm during my last visit just to see the place again. I have so many memories of Harold and his mom and dad. Driving away, I saw a lady working in her flower beds and I knew that Lynne lived or had lived there. So I stopped and asked her if she knew of a lady named Lynne Corlis. She kept a straight face and said she had heard of the name before and might know how to contact her. Then she couldn't keep up the ruse any longer and smiled and said "I'm Lynne." I was so happy that I finally met someone I knew from my childhood. I hadn't seen Lynne in well over 50 years. She looked amazing, certainly not like someone in her mid-70's. We chatted for a while before we moved on. I did make sure that I had a photo of the two of us together before leaving. I am not the least bit surprised that Lynne is being remembered as an exceptional person. I remember her that way when she was a teenager and she was raised by parents with solid values.
Sending our deepest condolences from my sisters Diane and Pat, Brian Locker

The deepest of heartfelt condolences to all family members on the sudden loss of one so dearly loved. Such a Beautiful woman Inside and out Lynne was. Her heavenly home was ready for her with the sweetest of homecoming, but it never makes it easy for those left behind. There is no doubt she is watching over you all now, spreading her love from another dimension. Loyde and I send the warmest of condolences and prayers as you mourn your great loss.
Hugs from the Tobers’s

Some times there are not enough words to express what we feel and to tell of our love and compassion for each other. Thinking of you Laurel, and all of your family, as our hearts ache together with the loss of your mom. Your mom, one of those compassionate women that loved so deeply; that spread her kindness wherever she went and 'sparkled' in so many lives. Prayers of comfort and strength for the days ahead. May peace be with you, may you hold her love within your heart and may your memories sustain you, always.

It is with great sadness we heard of Lynn's passing, she was a wonderful women. Lynn was welcoming, kind and generous to my family each time we visited from Ireland, my children have very found memories of the time they spent with Lynn and Wayne on the farm, as do we all. Her talents were endless, there was nothing this lady could not do, she was an inspiration to all the people that had the pleasure of knowing her.
Our thoughts are with you all at this extremely sad time.

Lynne was an amazing "sparkling" lady. We have travelled with she and Wayne, and then Lynne on her own with Diane on a Viking Cruise. A very special lady, always a pleasure to spend time with. She was a devoted mother and grandmother.

Lynne was my favourite librarian and turned me into the bookworm I am today. She was always so generous with her skills and time. I remember when I was home from the west coast for a wedding and my dress was a mess. Just 60 minutes with Lynne and not only was my dress fixed but she had given me sage marriage advice and caught me up on all the community happenings by the time I left. My thoughts and prayers are with your family and thank you for sharing your mom, sister, grandmother and friend with so many.

Laurel, Tamara, Greg & Family,
My thoughts are with you with the sudden loss of Lynne. She always greeted everyone with her beautiful smile and was so caring and thoughtful to others. Every year at the Binbrook Fair Lynne would be there selling tickets at the quilt table, helping the junior department selling hotdogs or just walking the aisles in the Agricultural Hall sharing her beautiful smile. My family has memories of the Saturday nights with your family and the trips to Wonderland with the fire department. May the prayers of those who love you carry you through this time of sorrow.
A beautiful star is watching over you.

Such a shock of a loss of a wonderful lady to so many people in the community and her cherished family. She was a strong, vibrant, active, kind and caring person. I will remember mostly her smile and twinkle in her eye, her friendliness and selflessness in giving freely of her time and talents. She always made you feel important. Till we meet again, friend.

I am so sorry for your loss. I have many fond memories of Mrs. Corlis, the librarian: from my first Story Times sitting on that carpet square, to her chapter book recommendations, to her lessons about card catalogues and the Dewey Decimal System when I had high school research projects to do. She was a consistent, caring adult in my life throughout my childhood. Then as an adult, I got to know Lynne the person: kind, funny, hardworking, creative, talented, considerate. I feel blessed to have had her as even a small part of my life for so long. She will be missed.

Dear Laurel and family:
I want to tell you how sorry I was to hear of your mother's passing. What a vibrant, caring lady she was who was always so interesting and interested. I am in awe to read of all of her activities, even as the years caught up. I was so touched when she visited my family after the death of my sister Beth Anne Elliott. Before and after that, I used to enjoy chatting with her and picking up a trinket or two at the Assumption Christmas Marketplace! Laurel, you and I worked together briefly at Satellite Golf all those years ago and I am glad the Corlis connection continued for us through Beth Anne. I offer you your children and your entire family my very heartfelt sympathy on your loss and all my best wishes as you navigate life while missing such a great life force as your mother was!
