Clarence and my father were friends, serving together on the Session of Fifty United church and sharing in the activities of the Winona Horticultural Society. He was also a favourite teacher of my brother and others at Winona Public School. I remember Clarence and Walterina quietly and faithfully attending Fifty church, always sitting in the back few rows. Clarence was a good, kind man. The memorial service was a good tribute to him and his gentle fighting of the good fight. I send my sincere sympathy to Dean, Rhonda and Donald and your families.

To Dean, Rhonda, Donald, and all your Families,
We are holding you all in our hearts and prayers. We know you all will have special memories of happy family times shared with Clarence - memories to treasure always - and that is a blessing!
I was privileged to share time with Clarence on Fifty's Session, and also on Fifty's Vietnamese Sponsorship Committee. He was a dedicated and valued member of both. He led a quiet and giving life and will be missed.
We are thinking of you all with caring thoughts,
Joan and Bruce Murray

I knew Clarence for many years from our time together at the Winona Horticultural Society. I enjoyed our conversations about plants and many other things. It is really nice to read the other memories posted, especially from his former students. I'm not surprised that he was a favourite teacher of so many students. Best wishes to the Mountain family. I know you will miss your Dad.
I hope that your lovely memories will comfort you.

p.s. Rhonda, you may remember me from Brodie's Nursing Home. My Grandma was Dorothy Burton.

Mr Mountain was my grade 8 teacher at Winona Public School. He was a great teacher and when I was absent from class for several months due to an accident he went far beyond to help me by coming every day with lessons and homework. Due to his generosity and strong dedication to myself and any student he taught he always went the extra mile. He helped so many with his teaching to go onto successful careers and better lives. Thank you for all your patience. To his large family my sincere sympathies. His love of family, friends and students will always be remembered. Sheila Cherriere

My wife and I have fond memories of Mr Mountain at Collegiate Avenue School during the early 1960"s. My wife Anne-Marie (Ferroni) did a split 7 & 8 class with Mr Mountain, always remembered as a dedicated gentleman and foremost teacher. His family can be sure he made a big difference in all the students he came in contact with. David and Anne-Marie Fritch

I am very sorry to hear about the passing of Mr. Mountain. Mr. Mountain was my teacher in grade 7 at Winona Public School. Mr. Mountain was a very kind man with a sense of fun. He was the only teacher that ever played Kings Court (a ball game) with us at lunch time. I appreciated that, because we had very little to do, and he encouraged us to play a game, and was kind enough to join us. My condolences to Donald, who I remember from school, and the rest of his family.

He was my Gr. 8 teacher at Winona Public. Later on in years he and I served on the Session together at Fifty United and had conversations of how mischievous my class was! Wonderful memories from school and church. My sincere condolences to Dean, Rhonda, Donald & families.

My dear father-in-law, who I affectionately called dad - I miss you and love you dearly.
You welcomed me into the family with open arms. I loved sitting and talking with you and hearing your stories and playing cards and crokinole with you. Your gentle, kind, humble soul is what always stood out to me and are the same qualities I see in all of your children. Your legacy will live on through them and their children and grandchildren and for that I thank you. It was my absolute privilege to spend so much time with you and I will cherish those memories forever. I know that I have an unwavering, kind, good man as my husband today, because of who you were. Your entrance into heaven would have been glorious and the angels would have cheered as you arrived for a life well lived. You finally you got to see the Lord face to face and for that I celebrate with you.
Bena (wife of Donald Mountain)
