Obituary of Ted Jackson
With heavy hearts the family of Edwin William Jackson wish to announce the passing of our beloved Ted in his 77th year. He valiantly battled against Multiple Myeloma (rare blood cancer) for 9 years. Ted was loved by many. His quiet, gentle and happy nature was appreciated by everyone and they loved spending time with him, either at home on the hill, at the cottage or at the hunt camp that he loved so much.
Ted is survived by wife Gail (Sivak), daughter Michelle (Tony), son Michael (Tamara) and grandchildren, David, Ethan, and Emma, Alex ( Sarah), Natalie (Thomas), and great granddaughter Mira. Dear brother-in- law to Bob and Sharon, Frances and Charlie, and uncle to Tracey, Nicole (Rick), Chris, Jaime and their children. Beloved cousin and best friend to Ron and Rosanna Hildreth, and cousins Bonnie and Joyce. Dear uncle to Patty (Rob) and Gary (Billy), their children and many loved cousins. Ted is predeceased by his mother Norma, and father Roy, and cousins Shirley and Betty. He was loved by members, past and present, of the Stoney Creek Hunt camp.
Ted was married to Gail for 56 years after meeting as teenagers at Glendale High School. He worked at Stelco as a systems analyst for 32 years and was retired almost as long. He loved working with his son and grandson at Fishing World Outdoor Centre. He was an avid fisherman, duck and deer hunter. Ted fished at Rice Lake for his whole life and won several Pro Bass tournaments. Together Ted and Gail travelled extensively to Mexico and Greece, and throughout Canada.
Special thanks to Dr. Dan Dargavel, and for the care provided by Jurvinski Cancer Centre, Doctors Benger and Mien, and Family Doctor, Monica Di Benedetti. Donations can be made on Ted’s behalf to The Jurvinski Cancer Centre, or to Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters in Peterborough.
As per Ted’s request, a private cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will take place at a future date. Notes of sympathy and Condolences may be made to www.donaldvbrown.ca
