Obituary of Don Russell Fell

It is with tremendous sadness that we announce the passing of Don Fell, at the Hamilton General Hospital, on January 7, 2022, in his 86th year. Devoted husband of Mariella Monaco and loving father to Pam Fell, Glen Fell (Laurie) and Linda Fell Struthers (Paul). Very proud grandfather of Maegan (Jason Merrithew), Thomas, Adam, Rachel, Carly Jo and Grace, as well as Great-Grandpa to Casper. He will be missed by his former wife, Mona Fell, as well as countless friends, associates and his pup Coco.  At 15, Don founded FELLFAB Limited and grew it from a home-based tarpaulin repair business to the largest manufacturer of airline and rail interiors in North America, as well as countless other engineered textile products. He was so looking forward to the 70th anniversary of FELLFAB next month, and his family will proudly carry on his legacy. While his business was a major focus in his life, Don was a tenacious fundraising champion for many organizations in the city of Hamilton, where he was born and raised. He believed that giving back was a privilege and was what made a city great. He supported the hospitals, the disabled, Around the Bay Road Race, the arts and countless others. He was a humble Community Leader, Entrepreneur, Mentor, Innovator and Philanthropist who shunned recognition, though he was very deserving. In lieu of flowers, please honour his memory by making a charitable contribution to an organization meaningful to you, or to St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton.  Thank you to all of the Doctors and Nurses who contributed to his care.  Visitation will be held at the Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek (905-662-2948) on Wednesday, January 12, 2022 from 5-8 p.m.  Please visit the Funeral Home website (www.donaldvbrown.ca) to register your attendance for visitation.  Visitors will only be accepted by scheduled appointment, proof of vaccination is required to attend.  Due to limited space availability, a private funeral service, by invitation only, will be held on Thursday January 13, 2022.  Interment will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.  Notes of sympathy and condolence may be left at www.donaldvbrown.ca
