Obituary of Geoffrey Michael Lawrence
Geoffrey Michael Lawrence, 75, of Stoney Creek, ON passed away peacefully on March 16, 2022, surrounded by his family. Beloved husband, father, and grandpa, Geoff was born in the UK and immigrated to Canada in 1969. A mechanical engineer/millwright by trade, he enjoyed a 40 year career at Dofasco, retiring in 2011. Geoff is survived by his wife of 54 years Dorothy, daughters Donna, Kristie (John), grandchildren Justin, Kyle, Kassie and Tristen, brother Stephen (Annwen), niece Cara and dog Harley. He is predeceased by parents John and Mary Lawrence, and nephew Simon. A proud pilot with a passion for aviation, Geoff was a member of the Seneca Aero Club for 51 years. In his spare time, he volunteered at the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum (since 2006) and the Stoney Creek Fire Department for 16 years. Geoff loved to have fun and could often be found flying, snowmobiling, boating, or driving his truck and tractors. Never afraid of getting his hands dirty, he always had a project on the go. Hardworking and selfless by nature, Geoff’s defining trait was his willingness to put others before himself. A role model to all that knew him, he was always there for his family and friends whom he loved above all else. He will be dearly missed. A Visitation will be held between 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 23 at Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, in Stoney Creek.
