Obituary of Jovan Djurdjevic
July 28, 1933 - July 7, 2022
It is with great sadness that we announce after a long battle with Alzheimer’s, Jovan reposed in our Lord on Thursday, July 7, 2022 at the age of 88. Beloved husband of Desanka (nee Milic), devoted father of Vesna (Dragan) Milenkovic and Veroslav-Vic (Svetlana) Djurdjevic, cherished Grandfather of Angela Gale, Zoran Milenkovic, Magdalena and Nicholas Djurdjevic and great-granddaughters Eiley and Lyla Gale. He is survived by his brother Stojan (Ivanka) in Serbia.
Predeceased by his infant daughter Dragica, sisters Bosiljka (Milan), Ljubinka (Staniša), and brother Tomislav, father Lazar and mother Biserka in Serbia.
Tata lived most of his life in the loving care of Mama for over 69 years, as we travelled together into a new world, a small family in search of a better life.
Tata followed in the steps of many of our fellow Serbians and found comfort in the Greater-Hamilton area to live out most of his life with his cherished family. Upon his retirement from Dofasco, they purchased a property in Beamsville where he spent many years in the orchard that he loved. Tata/Deda you will be missed by all of us, but, we find solace and comfort that your dream to meet up with your late daughter has come to be. Tata will also be deeply missed by his many Nieces, Nephews, Kumovi, friends, and their families in Canada, Serbia, France and the United States.
Friends will be received at the Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek on Sunday, July 10, 2022 from 4-7 p.m. Pomen at 6:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at St. Nicholas Serbian Orthodox Church, 1401 Barton St E Hamilton on Monday, July 11, 2022 at 11:00 AM with The Very Reverend Father Vojislav Pavlovic officiating. Interment to follow at Mountainview Gardens Cemetery.
