Obituary of Helen Semanyk

The family is sad to announce the passing of Helen, dear to many, loved by all, at the age 95, on August 30, 2022, in Ottawa. Much loved mother of Tom, Terri (Richard) and Nick (Sarah) and grandmother of Michael (Allison), Charles, Josh (Sarah) and Rebecca, Owen (Olivia), Jesse and Sydney (Kennedy) and great-grandmother of Jane, Andrew, Simon, and Claire. Predeceased by her husband, Alex and her daughter-in-law, Linda. Born in Timmins in 1927 to the late Dymitru and Vera Rose Krakana. Loving sister to Mena (Lynn) and Sophie (John). Predeceased by her siblings, Pete (Dina), Mike (Vie), Fanny, Anna, Marose, Daniel (Annette), and Darry (Sylvia). Missed by many loving nieces and nephews, including Mike, Diane (Ron), Gary (Rose-Annette), Cindy, Alan (Sue), Kim (Dan), Dale (Deb), Michael, Greg, Margot (Barry), Janice (Gary), Denise (Noel), John (Cindy), Mitchell, Peter (Deb), Stephanie (Stephen), and Brian (Lisa), to mention only a few. Special thanks to Dr. Lisa Moore and the Ottawa South Palliative Team and to the staff at the May Court Hospice. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or Hospice Care Ottawa. A celebration of life will be held at the Donald V Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek on Friday, September 16, 2022, with visitation at 10 a.m. and service at 11 a.m.
