Saddened to read today in the Heritage Green newsletter that Norm has passed away. My parents Norm & Joyce lived across the hall from Norm & Jean at Heritage Green and would exchange pleasantries. I found it interesting that N & J lived across the hall from N & J! They have all now departed this earth and others now occupy those rooms. My condolences to Norm & Jean's family. Janet Volkes

I cannot remember not knowing Uncle Norm Johns (and Auntie Jean). My sister, Valerie, and l have so many wonderful memories of times spent at their home and at their campsite. One that especially stands out to me, from when l was a kid visiting their home with my family, is how Uncle Norm would pull a slight of hand and retrieve a coin magically from behind my ear. His (and Auntie Jean’s) love for the Lord translated into their love for children and their unconditional acceptance of them. And as we grew into adulthood, they would always been asking how we were doing, interested in our lives and cheering us on. The impact they had on our hearts and our lives is still remembered - a legacy of their faith and their love of friends and family.

May Mr.Johns rest in peace with his Heavenly Father who he loved so much & spoke about fondly with me. I spent time with him reading devotion and scripture from the Bible & I will cherish that time for many years to come. He was a kind, funny & gentle man. He always shared many thought-provoking comments with me about the devotion or scripture we’d read, it has helped me on my spiritual journey & I am so blessed for that. To his family, may you all have peace that Mr.Johns is now out of pain & resting with his beloved wife who he spoke about from time to time with me. Thank you all for being so kind as well. Especially to Bev, you hold a special place in my heart & I will miss seeing you.
Love from,
Riley M

Dear, sweet Riley,
It was a blessing to us to know that you would take the time to sit with dad and read to him. He told us about a 'young girl' that would come to read devotions with him and how much he enjoyed that time. Thank you for your kind comment and your prayers.

Norm was a valued long-time friend of over 65 years. Many memories come flooding in as we think of the many great times we had both worshipping the Lord together and sharing in many & varied activities both in service to the Lord and in life in general. He was a true friend and great supporter of ours as we left to go to Bible College to prepare for ministry. Then, as the Lord would so wonderfully provide the opportunity, we were blessed to serve as his Pastor. Thank you Norm.
We extend our sincere sympathy to Norm's entire family. Please be assured of our prayers for the Holy Spirit's comfort, knowing that someday soon you will see him again.
Blessings,
Al & Audrey Saunders .

Norm Johns, and his family camped at Deer Bay Park for many years. He was surrounded by many of his family during those years, where we saw them grow up, have children of their own and continue to camp. They enjoyed their family time fishing, swimming and we often would hear them laughing and talking while playing board games on their deck in front of their trailer. His granddaughter, Laura worked for our camp for a few years also and was always a loving helpful young lady to her grandparents. Norm will always be remembered as a gentle soul, quietly going about his love for camping and fishing. Our sincere condolences from Peter & Carol Pearson, Laurie & Ron Coleshill & family from Deer Bay Park.
