Obituary of William (Bill) Stanley Yeo
September 2, 1933 – February 18, 2023
It is our saddest day that we have to announce the passing of William (Bill) Stanley Yeo. Survived by his loving wife Elsie, of 65 years. Loving father of Cindy Murphy and Steve Yeo (Tammy). Cherished grandfather of Bradley Yeo (Tess), Jennifer Yeo (Christian), Joseph Murphy (Leanne), Douglas Murphy (Ainslie), Robert Murphy (Kristen), Patrick Murphy (Tara) and Melissa Murphy-Adams (Bill). Great-grandfather of Lincoln and Aria Adams, Liam and Rory Murphy and Miller Yeo. Brother-in-law to Loreen Campbell (Ken), Lee Ann Murdy (Brian), Brian Murdy (Linda), Quinn Murdy (Kathy). Uncle to and loved by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Frederick Stanley and Mary Marguerite (Farrow), brother Lyle, sisters Helen Cooper (Alfred), Betty Ford (Dennis), Margaret Edwards (Bill) and brother-in-law Bill Murdy (Amy). Bill loved all of his family and always looked forward to family get-togethers. Bill drove truck for a living, starting in 1951, working for the same company (Direct Winters/Motorways/Kingsway) until his retirement in December 1989. He really enjoyed his work as a truck driver. In retirement he drove for Seniors Outreach Services for many years, taking people to appointments, shopping etc. He loved meeting and talking to people and finding out what they were interested in. He loved Corvettes and had a great fellowship with members of the Corvette Assoc. of Hamilton. He enjoyed his legion and golfing buddies. His happiest day of the year was when family and friends came to our home to watch the annual Stoney Creek Santa Clause Parade. He had many friendships that have lasted over the years. He loved to play cards and even with dementia, he could still hold his own playing cribbage. He always had time for a chat with family, friends, his children’s friends, and any stranger who walked by, as he puttered around his front yard on King Street East in Stoney Creek. We would like to thank all of his caregivers at Macassa Lodge Long Term Care, who gave him tender loving care and included him in every activity they had to offer during his time there. We would also like to thank the staff of Juravinski Hospital in Emergency and in Ward 5F for tending to him at the very end. All were very considerate and loving with the care they gave to him and his family. Cremation has taken place. Friends will be received at Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek on Saturday February 25 from 12 noon until the time of Funeral Service in the Funeral Home Chapel at 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to Mission Services or Good Shepherd would be appreciated.
