Obituary of Margaret Catherine Vowles

(née Lafrainer)

April 21, 1946 - February 24, 2023

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Margaret at the age of 76.  She is predeceased by her son Stephen and will be lovingly remembered always by her daughters Brenda Helpard (Mike) of Hamilton and Jennifer Frizell (Mike) of Sudbury.  She enjoyed a close relationship with her three grandchildren, Megan, Alex and Casper, who each have wonderful memories of time spent with Grandma.  She will be missed by her sister Sandra Harrison (John). Margaret worked in accounting and payroll throughout her career, retiring from Harris Rebar in Stoney Creek. Marg enjoyed sports throughout her life, most recently playing golf regularly with the Dundas District Ladies Golf Association as well as pickleball in St. Elizabeth Village.  She loved her active and social lifestyle in St. Elizabeth Village, taking daily walks around the neighbourhood where she would stop and talk to her many friends.  She especially looked forward to the frequent events in the village and Happy Hour wine with the Szollosy Posse.  Marg’s family would like to thank all of the staff in the ICU at St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton where she received the best care during her brief stay. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be held for Margaret at the Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek on Thursday, March 2, 2023 from 2 p.m.-4 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Lung Association or a charity of your choice. Notes of sympathy and condolence may be left at www.donaldvbrown.ca
