My Yiayia. I miss you so much. I will always love you. Thank you for being a beacon of light in my life all of these years.
Although these are just small snippets of joy that you and I shared, I want you to know that the list is so long. I loved every moment I spent with you. These are some that always stick with me:
-When you took care of us in Toronto and spent HOURS trying to figure out mum’s stew dumplings!
-Staying with me at the Winnipeg Zoo when everyone else went to see the tigers because you know I was scared of them!
-Walking along the beach at Ipperwash!
-You each singing us our special song to go to sleep! “hear the birds in the trees, hear the birds softly singing!”
-Eating all the ice cream whenever we are together.
-Dancing at my wedding.
-Skinny dipping in Italy!
-Wearing leopard print sweaters that you brought us! Never looked as good on me as it did on you!
-Eating all the strawberries any chance we got!
-Watching ‘My Big Fat Greek Wedding’ a million times!
-My absolute favourite: hearing you call me Alicat!
Yiayia, I am so grateful you are my Yiayia! I love you more than you could ever know!

I’m so sorry for your loss. She was one hell of a lady. She was my neighbor growing up and later I had the opportunity to work along side her. She never failed to make us all laugh when there was a work get together. I’m away and so unable to attend the service but I’ll be wearing leopard print in her memory. RIP, heaven isn’t going to know what hit them.❤️

My sincere condolences to the family. Marina was such a spectacular woman! I’m not even Greek- but I called her my Yiayia. We lived in the same building and she was my go-to if I ever need someone to talk to. We laughed and cried together so often. I loved hearing her childhood stories- she was so funny! She let me try on her old shoes and dresses and we often ate and drank together on the balcony. In the photo, she is trying a cake I made. She was my biggest fan and always encouraged me. She even named my plants when I went on vacations and labelled them. She was always there for me when I needed her ❤️ Heaven is a more beautiful place with her now.
