Obituary of George Peter Rasula
Born, March 15, 1955. Son of the late George and Helen Rasula. Devoted former-husband to MaryAnn and Nina, loving dad to Tara; and grandpa to Abigail, Madeline and Gabriella. Caring father to Fiona, and ‘Popy’ to Carla. Brother to Nik (Karen). Mirjana Vujic (the late Milivoj), Ratko (Milka). Uncle to Boris, Ted, Diana, the late George III, Stevan, Matthew, and Brandon.
George was a lifelong area resident and fiercely loyal to both ‘The Hammer’ and his hometown of Stoney Creek. Taking over the family business in 1981, he was the operator of Green & 8 Auto Service at - you guessed it - Green Rd. and Highway #8. Afterwards, George went on to many years in the hospitality industry, owning restaurants in the area, including Michael’s and Crabby Mal’s in the north-end.
In 2006, while on vacation in Florida, George incurred a life-altering event, suffering a Thalamic stroke. Cared for thereafter by his love Nina, George’s health deteriorated, eventually requiring 24-hour assistance. In 2018 he became a resident of Macassa Lodge, until passing from the effects of pancreatic cancer. With Tara, Nik and Nina holding him, George took his last breaths listening to his favourite Elvis tunes, ‘Love Me Tender,’ ‘Stuck on You’ and ‘The Wonder of You.’
He passed at Macassa, Wednesday, November 1st, 2023. The family would like to extend its warmest thanks to the staff at Macassa D-Wing (especially Barb, Dell and Natasha) for their care, love and affection. George loved you all.
Friends will be received at the Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek, on Monday, November 6th, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, November 7th, at 1 p.m. in the Funeral Home Chapel. Private family interment to follow.
