Obituary of Patricia Mary Disher
(Nee Smith)
June 23, 1942 — December 2, 2023
Pat passed away peacefully at St. Joseph’s Hospital with her family at her side on Saturday, December 2. Beloved wife of 56 years to Bob (Winona) and devoted mother to Jim (Jenna) of Grimsby. Adored Nanny to Jack and Jenny Disher. Predeceased by her parents George and Margaret Smith. Sister to Robert Smith (Janie) of Windsor. Sister-in-law to Judy Massey (Burlington), Susan Bruin (Adrie) of Waterdown, the Rev. Harry Disher (Diamond) of Grand Bend, and John Disher (Sig) of Jerseyville. She is also survived by several cousins in the U.S.A. and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pat was a retired elementary teacher with the H.W.D.S.B. She helped pioneer the E.N.O.C. programme in Hamilton. Her retirement years were spent travelling and tending her garden. She received many “Trillium” awards including the coveted “Red Trillium “in 2016. Pat was also an avid sailor. She and Bob sailed on Lake Ontario for 25 years. In 2009 they acquired a 33 foot “Land Yacht” and toured Canada and the U.S.A, from coast to coast. At the request of the deceased there will be no visitation or funeral service. In lieu of flowers
Pat would prefer that you make a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation. At this time the family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of St. Joseph's Hospital for their care and kindness of Pat.
Friends, relatives and neighbours are welcome to visit the family at 501 Winona Rd., Winona on Saturday, December 16, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
