Obituary of Manda Atlija

July 2, 1937 to December 27, 2023

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Manda Atlija (nee Visekruna), peacefully with her family at her side, on December 27, 2023 at the age of 86. Manda was predeceased by her loving husband, Nikola who we lost in 2018. She will be greatly missed by her family; daughter Zora, son Nick, son George and daughter-in-law Petra, grandchildren Mark and Luke. She will also be missed by her extended family and friends in Canada, Serbia and Switzerland.

Manda was born in Selo Oton Brdo, Dalmacija. She immigrated to Canda to marry her husband Nikola in 1958 and shared 59 happy years of marriage. Manda was a loving mother to her three children and devoted grandmother to her two grandchildren who were her pride and joy. She was very proud of her heritage and loved to cook the traditional Serbian foods for her family and enjoyed knitting in her spare time. Manda was also a member of the St. Nicholas Serbian Orthodox Cathedral on Nash Road in Hamilton, Ontario.

Funeral Service will be held at St. Nicholas Serbian Orthodox Cathedral, 149 Nash Rd. S., Hamilton, Ontario on Tuesday, January 2, 2024, at 11 a.m. with the Very Reverend Father Djuro Samac officiating. Interment to follow at Mountview Gardens Cemetery in Stoney Creek, Ontario.
