My sincere condolences to you all on Maria's passing. I didn't know Maria long, we had spent many weeks together at the Juravinski where we started a mutual friendship and vowed to keep in touch. I only just found out about her passing today January 10th 2024. I had been sending texts and phone calls and today Danny answered and told me. She and i both prayed for each other and I wanted to go and see her after I came home 3 weeks ago but I'm still recovering. We had made plans to have lunch together when she went home. Sending love and prayers to all that knew and lived her,she was an exceptional woman and she will be missed

Miss Fern,
Thank you for being such a warm presence for Freya at daycare. She looked forward to greeting you each morning before heading to her preschool room. You were such comfort to her and all of the children. Thank you so much for all of your dedication and care over the years. You will be missed by so many. Rest in peace.
Quinn, Faith and Freya

Miss Fern, thank you for all the care you have done for my daughter Haya at daycare. You are such a beautiful woman. I will always remember your kindness to Haya, to me and to my husband. You may not be here anymore, but you're still in our hearts.
Our condolences to the family - from Alcantara Family.

I have been trying to find the words to say, but I keep coming up short. No words could ever express how genuinely wonderful Miss Fern was. Nothing could begin to scratch the surface of what an impact she's made on all of our lives. Nor could they demonstrate just how loved she was.
I first met Fern almost 4 years ago now when my son started at East End Scholars. Sebastian was immediately drawn to Fern, and would spend most mornings after drop off "helping" her in the kitchen. Fern was always loving, patient, and kind to him and treated him like he was part of her own family. Many times we shared a laugh, or she offered words of wisdom to help navigate through young parenthood.
Miss Fern, we will miss you with all of our hearts. Thank you for all you have done for us.

Fern, we met when you brought your daycare children to the EarlyON that I worked at. Then you became a staff and we quickly became friends.
That was over 25 years ago!
We have shared so much happiness and grief during this time together...but were always there for each other.
When you were still working I treasured my 6:45 am text from you daily as you were waiting for the bus.
For 17 years we shared hair appointments....I don't know how I can do this without you!
I was honoured to be able to attend and take you to your appointments and help in anyway I could.
I am truly going to miss our daily talks so much.
My heart is broken and I love you so much Fernanda Rei.
You finally have peace....I will see you again ❤.

The infamous Ms. Fern and her wonderful kitchen. My daughter had the privilege to be loved by Fernanda. Our Ariana thrived under the care of Ms. Fern. She became like family. We will never forget her kindness and devotion to the children she cared for. I had the honour of spending the day with her as we got the preschool graduation ready. With many jokes and laughter spent the whole day. What a blessing it was to be in her life and her in ours.
We will miss you immensely and may your family find the strength to get through these difficult times. Our sincerest condolences from Ariana and the rest of the da Costa family.

Fern and I met over 20 years ago when we worked with young children and their families at an Ontario Early Years Cente (now Early ON). We shared our love for children and good food. Fern was a very good cook and went on to work as a cook at a childcare centre. We often met at restaurants for meals together especially for our birthdays and a few times in each other’s homes. I will miss Fern’s enthusiasm, friendship and her positive attitude. Sending love and peace.
