I just heard about Jurgen's passing thru KONE. Totally overwhelmed at this news, and his wonderful retirement cut short. Jurgen was the person who hired me for the Construction Department Supervisor position back in late 2000. He was not only a pleasure to initially meet, he had the personality to put you at ease. Jurgen was always there, to provide advise, encourage and critique if needed on my learning journey to new construction supervision. He was even there, brought in from retirement, at the KONE Kingston Branch in 2012 when I relocated from the Toronto Branch to this new area, to assist me, familiarize me with this area and my new role. Jurgen attended my own surprise retirement party at Kingston in 2019. I will always remember Jurgen's unique laugh, which will always bring a smile to my face and heart. RIP Jurgen.
My condolences to all in his family.

Jurgen welcomed me to the KONE office in Toronto in 2001. What a pleasure it was working with him and having his support later on with the Team in Edmonton. Reference is made to his involvement with the legion, I remember a visit with him and Pat on the terrace of the St. Pete's beach Fla. legion. An awesome invitation for lunch with the dolphins stopping in to say hi. We will miss you and we will cherish our memories of you Jurgen!

I am very sad to have learned that Jurgen Hellmich has passed away in January 2024.
I am posting this message to express my condolences to Patricia and the entire Hellmich family on my behalf and on behalf of all us at KONE Elevators.
Jurgen joined KONE ( then called Montgomery Elevator) in 1979 as an elevator constructor mechanic in Hamilton. Soon after he was promoted to the roll of a supervisor and eventually went on to become one of KONE's most successful Branch Managers. KONE will always remember that it was Jurgen who opened up KONE's branch in Kingston and made us a market leader in that part of the country. Jurgen went on to lead the Toronto Branch, the Toronto New Construction Branch the Hamilton Service Branch and the Hamilton New Construction Branch. While Jurgen retired from KONE in May 2006 he continued to keep in touch with many of his KONE teammates and was always available for advice and help.
Jurgen was a true leader at KONE who touched the lives of so many of us that worked at KONE. He was a friend, mentor, colleague to so many of us. His professional and friendly approach with everyone at KONE help set our organization's culture that holds to this day. KONE was lucky to have this wonderful person and human being as part of our organization for over 27 years. Rest in Peace Jurgen -we miss you my friend.

Opa,
I miss you already so much.
I miss all the time we were getting to spend together. I guess I wish it wasn't because you were in the hospital, but nonetheless, I'm thankful for the time we got to just be together chatting.
Thank you Opa for being the greatest grandfather anyone could ask for. I wish there was something more I could have done for you. I hope there is peace for you now.
We will keep you in our hearts Opa. You were an amazing man and I am very proud to be your granddaughter.
Miss you everyday!! Love you so much!

My condolences to Pat and family.
Uncle Jurgen, I have many memories of you since my earliest days. I spent every Christmas Eve with you and our families till I headed west in 1975. I remember visiting you and your family at your home on Kingsley Drive Hamilton. The Easter egg hunts in the garden.
Sitting in the back seat of Opa’s big old 1950’s car. Marvelling at your model airplane collection hanging from the ceiling in the recreation room downstairs. I wasn’t allow to touch though.
I remember the visits to your new family home on Aldercrest Rd Hamilton. Trying to help you and Horst pick up from the store and lay down patio stones next to the house connecting to the wonderful garden area. Probably wasn’t much help.
I remember a wedding or two and multiple garden parties where the majority spoke German.
I remember my trip with Oma and Opa to visit Horst and family in Winnipeg. You and Pat met us there and we headed west to Vie’s family farm. Looking for and seeing some wild horses. Helping to get a huge bull cow into a back of a truck with Horst and the farmer to deliver to auction. Trying to shoot nuisance gophers with a 22 rifle.
I remember couple of visits that you and Pat took to see Micheal and I and families in Victoria, BC.
Your visits and out for dinner when you were working on the new hospital addition in Victoria.
I remember thanksgiving dinner at my mom’s townhouse in Niagara Falls with you and Pat, Terry and I and Chris and Matthew.
A couple of times when Terry and I were visiting Rick and Diana in Niagara Falls and you and Pat met us at their home.
Hopefully somehow, someway someday we will meet again and have that beer on your porch all together.
Love Ron, Terry and Christopher.

Dear Uncle Jurgen. I’m grateful for the time we had last summer at Aunt Sharon’s house. Laughing and telling stories while enjoying the good weather and pool. I will hold that memory very close. I will also remember those summers at the trailer when I was a little kid, playing with Trish, sitting around a camp fire and being around a big family. We will miss you. Rest peacefully, uncle Jurgen. Love Crystal

From the first time we met in Barbados in 2011,you wearing your Penalty Box shirt, and me asking if that was the one in Hamilton, we've had a ton of laughs over happy hours at the south gap hotel with Blaine etc.
Heading back on Monday and im sure we'll be tipping more than a few in honor of such a great man,
RIP my friend

Uncle Jurgen, I have known you for 71 years, although I do not have memories of the earliest years. I do know from stories told by your mother, Anna, that you helped watch over me on Beaverbrea as we sailed over the north Atlantic to Canada in the early 1950s.
I remember clearly the band practices in your parents’ basement, your pet skunk, and the time I had the honor of entering your underground fort in the woods near your house (thank you for letting me look at the Playboy magazines). Thank you for introducing me to the music of Elvis and Ronnie Hawkins.
Your visits with aunt Pat to Victoria were special to MaryJane and I — I still laugh when I remember how you two enjoyed Abbey’s toddler antics as she went through her entire dresser and tried on one outfit after another.
MaryJane and I enjoyed our visit with you and Pat in Florida, and we were so happy to have visits with you when you were working on the Royal Jubilee Hospital addition —I remember fondly how you were absolutely perplexed by the different and more casual work ethic here in BC.
It is too bad we didn’t reel anything in on the fishing trip with Ron in 2014, but the crabs were really good.
I love the picture chosen by Pat.
I miss you Jurgen— you are very important to all your nieces and nephews.
Hope to see you again, Michael
