Obituary of Thomas Stephen Lush

Thomas Stephen Lush, after a brief battle with cancer, fell asleep in the Lord on Thursday, February 29, 2024, peacefully and painless at home in the arms of his beloved wife Suzan in their 39th year of marriage.

Stephen was born on November 10, 1957 in Toronto to David Lush and the late Caroline Lush (nee Eldridge) in Toronto and was raised with his three siblings David, Kimberly (late) and Jody.

Stephen is survived by his wife, Suzan and their children Sarah, M.D. (Albert), Kyle (Dana) and Jacob. He treasured his relationship with his late brother-in-law, Archimandrite Nazarius (Nikodim – Nickolas Pribojan). He loved and will be sorely missed by his brother Jody, his sisters-in-law (and baking competitors), Aleksandra Ceko (V. Rev. Fr. Nicholas), Maria Yatsko, and many cousins, nieces, nephews, Kumovi Djeneralovic and friends in both Canada and the U.S.

He was the patriarch of the family, the source behind the laughter in the house and the glue behind the success of his children. He moved to Hamilton to be close to his late father-in-law, Vladimir Pribojan, enjoying many visits, coaching his sons’ hockey teams, driving his Mustang through Niagara region’s vineyards and picturesque escarpment views.

Stephen was a Tool & Die Maker and later, early in his marriage, earned his C.E.T. in Manufacturing Engineering at Humber College. He spent the bulk of his career as a Tier 1 Automotive Plant Manager, winning numerous GM and Honda awards, then moved on to start his own C.N.C. Manufacturing business, Axis Machining, which he closed in 2015.

Many thanks to the wonderful staff at the Juravinski Cancer Centre. Visitation will be held at Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek, on Sunday March 3, 2024 from 4-7:30 p.m. with a Pomen (memorial service) at 7:30 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday March 4, 2024 at 11 a.m. at St. Nicholas Serbian Orthodox Cathedral (Nash Rd.) with The V. Reverend Fr. Djuro Samac officiating. Interment to follow at Mountview Gardens Cemetery, Stoney Creek.  Notes of sympathy and condolence may be left at www.donaldvbrown.ca.
