Obituary of Stevo Rakas
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Stevo Rakas April 23, 2024 at Emmanuel House Hospice in Hamilton. Stevo leaves behind a legacy of love, integrity, and unwavering strength. He was 87 years old.
Stevo's journey through life was marked by remarkable resilience and unwavering dedication to his family. He was a man of honour, respected and adored by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Stevo is predeceased by his wife Marija. Loving father of son Djuro (Danica) and daughter Mirjana. Proud deda of Dimitri, Nikolas, Marina and Marko.
He leaves behind his brother Dmitar (Danica) and sister, Milka (late Luka) as well as nieces, nephews and their families.
Stevo's greatest joy in life was found in the love he shared with his family, especially his beloved grandchildren. He showered them with affection, wisdom, and unwavering support, leaving an indelible mark on their lives that will be cherished forever.
Though he faced the challenges of a cancer diagnosis last year, Stevo approached life with courage, dignity, and an unyielding will to live.
As he passes into the next realm, we find solace in the belief that Stevo is now reunited with his beloved wife, Marija, whom he cherished deeply.
His memory will be eternal and his legacy of love and strength will continue to live on in the hearts of many family, kumovi, and friends here and in Serbia.

Visitation will be held Thursday, April 25 from 5-8 p.m. at the Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek with Pomen at 7:30 p.m. Funeral Service to be held at St. Nicholas Serbian Orthodox Cathedral, 149 Nash Road South, Hamilton on Friday, April 26 at 11:30 a.m. with the Very Reverend Father Dragomir Ninkovic officiating. Interment Mountview Gardens Cemetery.
