Obituary of Nellie Senyk

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Nellie Senyk (nee Karpyshyn) in her 93rd year on July 19, 2024. Predeceased by her loving husband, Henry M. Senyk (2006), as well as her dear sister, Edna Barko (2014) and her brother, Mike Karpyshyn (1999).  Loving mother to daughter, Stephanie Strychowsky (Senyk). Cherished grandmother to Brandon Strychowsky (Brittany) and fondly remembered by Ruby Strychowsky, her great-granddaughter. 

In her youth, she enjoyed playing in the mandolin orchestra. In her later years she enjoyed gardening, attending Tai Chi classes, playing cards on the weekends with Nell and Ann, making cabbage rolls, perogies, and baking for her family as well as occasionally going to the casino with her friends Ruth and Susan.  Nellie was employed by Eaton’s and Patterson’s Fine Furniture creating beautiful window treatments for many years. 

Sincere thanks to all those who assisted with Nellie’s care, as well as the medical staff at the Hamilton General Hospital.

Visitation at Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek, on Friday, July 26, 2024 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., followed by a Chapel Service at 12 p.m. Interment at Eastlawn Cemetery, Hamilton.  In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to the Alzheimers Society.
