Obituary of James (Jim) Paul Garchinski

December 10, 1945 - August 14, 2024

James (Jim) Paul Garchinski, beloved husband of 34 years to Kim (Ranger) was born in Hamilton ON, to parents Fritz (Frank) and Kazmeira (Kay). Brother to Fran (deceased), Carol, Frank, Ann. Devoted father to Teresa (Tom) and Andrea; proud grandfather of Alexandra (Aaron), Kelsie, Chloe, great-grandfather to Preston, Savannah, uncle and great-uncle to numerous nieces and nephews. Friend to many.

For 35 years Jim served the Hamilton Police Service in multiple roles including Sargeant, Administrator of the Hamilton Police Association, VP and President of the Police Association of Ontario and Canadian Police Association. Jim had a passion for travel and enjoyed winter months with his wife Kim in various tropical destinations, while also exploring many countries together.

Jim passed peacefully at St. Peter’s Hospital after struggling in hospital for several months. The family is grateful for the superior care of staff and doctors at West Lincoln Memorial and St. Peter’s Hospitals.

Friends and family will be received on Monday, August 19th from 4-7 p.m. at the Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek. Funeral to be held in the Chapel on Tuesday, August 20th at 10:30 a.m. Interment in Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Cemetery, 681 Mud St., Stoney Creek. A reception will follow the interment, the location to which will be announced at the Funeral Service. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer Society would be appreciated by the family.
