Obituary of Diana Marilyn Broatch Pryde

It is with profound sadness that we share with you the loss of our beloved mother Diana Marilyn Broatch Pryde at the age of 84.

Predeceased by her husband James Henderson Pryde, Diana leaves behind to mourn her two children Laura (Paul) and Warren.

Known for her gentle and quiet manner, Diana touched the lives of many throughout her life.  With a dry sense of humour and a generous heart, most important throughout Diana's life was family.

Before marrying James, the love of her life, Diana worked for Bell Canada and Langs Food in Hamilton, Ontario in an administrative capacity.

Shortly after the birth of their daughter, Diana and James moved their young family to Caledonia, Ontario to raise their children in the countryside so their children could experience rural living and enjoy the beauty of the Haldimand Norfolk county during their formative years.

During this time, Diana worked as the school secretary for Oneida Public School in Willow Grove.  Diana chose the job so she could have the summers off with her children and watch them grow and thrive and instill in them a great love and respect for nature.  A love and respect her children carry with them to this day.

Upon the family returning to live in Hamilton; Diana worked for the Hamilton Wentworth District School Board before retiring.

Thank you to the staff at Idlewyld Manor for the care they provided to Diana.  Much gratitude to Father Matthew Griffin (Anglican Church of The Nativity) for his visits and the kindness he showed to Diana.

A special thank you to Diana's niece Rosslyn and her husband Mark for the love and kindness they expressed to Diana throughout her life.  Especially during her years at Idlewyld Manor.

Visitation will be on Thursday, September 12, 2024 10:00 to 12 p.m. in the Chapel of The Anglican Church of the Nativity located at 1831 King St. E., Hamilton.

Following Visitation, the Funeral Service will commence at noon with interment at Woodland Cemetery to follow where Diana will be laid to rest alongside her husband James.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Anglican Church of The Nativity or to the Hamilton-Burlington SPCA.

Do Not Weep For Me Do not weep for me for I have not gone.

I am the wind that shakes the mighty Oak.

I am the gentle rain that falls upon your face.

I am the spring flower that pushes through the dark earth.

I am the chuckling laughter of the mountain stream.

Do not weep for me for I have not gone.

I am the memory that dwells in the heart of those that knew me.

I am the shadow that dances on the edge of your vision.

I am the wild goose that flies south at Autumns call and I shall return at Summer rising.

I am the stag on the wild hills way.

I am just around the corner.

Therefore, the wise weep not.

But rejoice at the transformation of my Being
