Obituary of Gerald Levy

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Gerald (Gerry) on September 11, 2024. Born in Hamilton to William and Ethel Levy on February 29, 1932.

A loving husband and best friend to Josephine (Jo) for 69 years.  A wonderful father to Debbie Hamann (Gary) and Sandy Gaetani.  A proud and loving grandfather to Carl Hamann (Alysia), Amanda Wilde (Jeremy), Linda Gaetani and Steven Gaetani (Lauren Curtis) and great-grandfather to Lena Wilde.   

A loving son, son-in-law, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, cousin, friend and neighbour.  Gerald was a devoted family man who went above and beyond to ensure his loved ones were cared and provided for. He had an inquisitive mind and wonderful sense of humour. He loved to fill our e-mail inboxes daily with jokes and random life facts he thought worthy to share.  He loved music, especially jazz and live theatre productions.

A proud 40 year Dofasco employee who went on to enjoy over 30 years retired.  He and Jo were very active with the Dofasco Retiree Club and enjoyed playing cards, taking bus trips and organizing and attending numerous shows at Carmen’s with their many special friends. Both thoughtful and generous, he believed in supporting charities and was a regular blood donor.

Cremation has taken place. A private Celebration of Gerald’s life has taken place. In lieu of flowers, donations to the St. Joseph Healthcare Foundation would be appreciated. Notes of sympathy and condolence may be left at www.donaldvbrown.ca
