It is with profound sadness that our family announces the passing of Mary Edith Hicks, beloved wife of the late Clifford Francis Hicks, in her 92nd year. The strange cascade of a broken hip followed by a heart attack proved to be too much, even for her fighting spirit and determination. Loving mother of sons Stephen (Linda), Brian (deceased), David (Jane) and Dale as well as daughters Nancy (Bill) and Jane. Cherished grandmother of Jennifer, Amy (David), Jessica (Nick), Heather (Raymond), Max, Liam and Colin(Jessica). Proud great-grandmother of Sydney, Eli and Abel. She is dearly missed by sister-in-law Mary (Jack) and brother-in-law John (June) as well as many extended family members and dear friends. It is with resounding joy that we proclaim that she is with God.
Our sincerest thank you to the medical teams of Hamilton General Hospital and especially St. Joseph Hospital for your expertise and compassionate care. A special shoutout to “Money”. You know who you are and how much you mean to us.
In spite of several life circumstances that would have broken many, if not most people, Mary’s perseverance, love and devotion to her family, friends, her church and God allowed her to help many, many people over the years. Under the guidance of Lois and Ann, she was able to help dozens if not hundreds of people learn the true value of “Easy does it".
