Her father ,Jim, was an assistant director at Comak and Barb and I have remained friends all these years .She mentioned many times to me that Phil would mention his happy times on Comak Isle.I would like to extend my condolences to all the family and to let you know that I am thinking of happy thoughts of his presence at Comak . I had the honor and pleasure of working with Phil for many years at CHML Radio. He was an inspiration to myself and other Broadcasters, and one of the most genuine, funny, and kind people I have had the pleasure of knowing. Remembered with a smile!

As a fellow broadcaster, I have many memories of Phil. We were acquainted, even though we never formally worked together. I did recognize Phil's talent and devotion to broadcasting.
I know that he will continue to be behind the microphone up there in the great beyond.
Eilleen and I post our condolences and silent prayers to Phil's family.
God Bless!

My sincerest condolences go out to Rob and his family at this time of loss. I wasn't lucky enough to meet Phil but felt I knew him through knowing Rob and our talks about our Dad's, who were going through the same fight for life at the same time. Know that he is at peace now and has done all he could with his time here. He was obviously loved and will always be remembered, which is all you can ask for when we are here. Though it will be tough in the upcoming days, weeks, months, years, your reflections of all the good Phil brought into your life will always bring a smile to your face at any given time in day.
Sincerely,
Paul Parkin & Family

I remember when Mr. Darling brought Phil to CHML, I did his original audition. Afterwards we went down the street at 848 Main East and he bought me a coffee. That was the start of a nearly twenty year professional relationship and a lifetime friendship. Phil was one of the most talented and versatile announcers and a joy to work with. A consummate professional. CHML was better because of him, and my life was greatly enriched for having know him.

Dear Jeanne and family,
Aline and I are so very sorry for your loss of Phil. He was a great friend to everyone. We are all suffering his loss. When I last spoke to him several weeks ago we compared notes as fellow cancer survivors often do. He spoke at great length about his wonderful wife Jeanne and the family you have both built together. He was rightly very proud of every member of the family which he leaves behind and his legacy. His infectious humour brought joy to everyone. He will remain in our thoughts and prayers.

From: Vince Basciano - His BOOMING voice will always be heard, as it had, for all the years at M.L. And I will always remember the morning, back in 1995, when he proudly announced, that(son) Rob had signed a contract with The Hamilton Tiger Cats Football Club. We'll be listening to your morning show, live and direct, from Heaven. God bless.

I never met Phil other than by listening to him on CHML but I have a memory that I'd like to share. In the mid 60's, I constructed a "pirate" radio station and actually ran it from my home until a visit from the government officials to disassemble it put an end to my hobby. While in operation, I telephoned Phil one day, while he was on the air, since he was my favorite on-air personality. I asked if he'd be interested to be one of my announcers. He said he's always looking for a second job and if I could promise him an annual salary of $10,000, he'd consider doing a show. I was 12 years old, as I'm sure he knew by my voice. I told him that I'd get back to him when I could afford that income promise. I hopped on my bicycle and visited every business in Stoney Creek to see if I could interest some investors to help me afford such a great announcer. How was I to know this was an illegal activity? I will never forget the many great shows and kind demeanor that Phil delivered. He will be missed.

Our condolences on the passing of Phil. I have fond memories of him leaving or hiding as soon as Dirty and I showed up at a party. When he did stay we enjoyed his company, stories and quick wit. I am sure he will be missed, make sure you only remember the good times. I will be raising a bottle of Bud (or 3) in Phil's memory on Saturday. Mike (Fiiveoh)

Although I didn't have the privilege of knowing Phil personally, our family certainly enjoyed listening to him on CHML. A few years ago he contacted the Canadian HARD of HEARING Association regarding some information on hearing loss. His voice was still the same - positive and outgoing. I'm sure your family will have many wonderful memories of Phil that will hopefully ease your sorrow at his passing.
Sincerely,
Jacquie Reid

Phil was a rare, genuine, unpretentious, fun-loving, professional human-being as much as he was a multi-talented, entertaining broadcaster. His many fans recognized during his long, successful career at CHML, what all his friends and colleagues knew, that Phil was 'the real deal'. Ready, willing and more than able. Always with a smile or chuckle. Always positive and upbeat. Count me among the many people you touched and inspired along the way, my old friend. You will be missed. From: Stu Daly
