Obituary of Reverend Joan Evelyn Horacheck

HORACHEK, Reverend Joan Evelyn After a brief and courageous battle, Joan passed away peacefully at McMaster Medical Centre, on Monday, December 31, 2007, in her 84th year. Beloved wife of the late Leo Horachek. Loving mother of Leslie Ann of Hamilton, David Allan of Stoney Creek, Paul Martin (Lee Ann) of Victoria, B.C. and Peter John (Stacy) of Nashville, Tennessee. Predeceased by her daughter Janet Lee. Loved grandmother of David Sean (Allison) of Montreal, PQ, Sasha and Tama, Kody, Megan and Hailey and Cullen and great-grandmother of Kiara and Talia and Davis Brian. Predeceased by her brothers Leslie and Allan. Will also be sadly missed by many nieces and nephews. Joan was a Graduate of the 1946 Class of Nursing at the Hamilton General Hospital, and was a Minister with the United Church of Canada for 20 years. Joan touched many lives through her gentle ways while in Nursing and in The Ministry. Friends will be received at the DONALD V. BROWN FUNERAL HOME, 36 Lake Ave. Dr., Stoney Creek on Wednesday from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. A Private Family Graveside Service will be held at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. A celebratory reception will be held in Joan's memory at Eternal Spring Church, 708 Rymal Rd., on Thursday, January 3rd from 5-7 p.m. As an expression of sympathy, donations to the charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
