This is a late post to Dr. Janack's memory, but I didn't know about his passing until just now. I too want to note that Dr. Janack was one of the kindest, most gentle people I have ever known. He was my doctor, and my family's, from the time we arrived in Canada in 1953, when I was 5, to the time I moved away in my early 20s. He helped treat me when I was seriously ill just months after our family arrived in Stoney Creek. He said it was the first case of hemorrhagic measles (black measles) he had seen in his practice. I almost died but after treatment at Hamilton General Hospital I got sent home a couple of weeks later, and Dr. Janack was a regular visitor to our house — in those days doctors made house calls!
He was kindly and understanding, especially as I had to have regular antibiotic needles and they were no fun to a 5-year-old. He was a terrific guy. Sincere condolences to the family and close friends. Martin

To Marg and family, my most sincere sympathies for your loss of Dr. Janack. Although it was so many years ago that I lived in Stoney Creek and knew him, I still remember his gentle manner, especially with all the kids in the neighbourhood gathering in his back yard all the time. The saddest day of my young life was watching the moving van go up the street taking you all away to far off Winona. You must be proud of Dr. Janack's service to his community and all his accomplishments. His was a life well lived. All the best, Lois

My condolences to the Janack family. What a wonderful man Dr. Janack was; he delivered my children and was always such a kind and patient doctor. I can still picture his face when he had to give my babies their shots! Blessings to all of you during this time and in the days and months ahead. May your many memories of him bring a smile to your face and that special peace in your hearts.

To the Janack family, please accept my sincere condolences in the loss of your husband, father and grandfather. My memories harken back over half a century, when our family lived directly across the street from Margaret and Ed and their very young family, on James Avenue, in Stoney Creek. Being considerably older than my siblings, I soon left the family home, but have fond recollections of front lawn chats with Ed, who I always found to be kind, considerate and a real gentleman. It is clear that he made a tremendous impact on the community and those he treated over a long and illustrious medical career. He will be missed.

Dear Janack family; We couldn't keep him here forever. God knows he did God's work with his time on Earth. Always a smile...so many memories...as a patient on King St., going to school with several of the Janack children in Winona, watching Edwin fly around the Stoney Creek arena. Later, we would meet again as cancer survivors at Iris' Way at the Dr. Kemp Hospice. I always enjoyed my time spent with Ed & Marg and promised to stay in touch when I left Ont. 4 years ago. Regretfully, I fell down on my promise but feel that at this time that I must express my sympathies. He will be missed, but oh what a joy to have had the pleasure of saying that I knew this man as a professional and as a friend. What a privilege. What an honour. Sending you all love and peace . Sincerely, Deb London
