Obituary of Edwin Sylvester Janack Queens 51 C.C.F.P.
Passed away peacefully at his home in Stoney Creek, with his family by his side, on Wednesday, November 5, 2014, in his 91st year. Beloved husband and best friend of Margaret (Haines) for 63 years. Loving father of Peter and his wife Rosalba, Margaret and her husband David Chadder, Doug and his wife Daniela, Mary Janack, Anne and her husband Ken Smith, Elizabeth Janack. Cherished grandfather of Alex, Megan, Matthew, Martin, Michael, Kolton, Taylor and predeceased by granddaughter Jordan. Dear brother of Mildred King, Oliver, May Leslie and predeceased by Mary McKnight and Ila Cronk. Will also be sadly missed by several nieces and nephews. Edwin served in the RCAF and received his commission as a pilot officer in 1945. After graduating from Queens University he served the Stoney Creek community as a family physician for 40 years. He was honoured as Citizen of The Year in Stoney Creek in 2005, and he was a recipient of the Queens Diamond Jubilee Medal. Edwin was a proud member of Branch 622 Royal Canadian Legion. He will be missed by all whose lives he has touched. A special thank you to Dr. and Mrs. Fred Fraser and their staff for all of their caring support. Cremation has taken place. Friends will be received at the Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek, on Friday, November 14 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Celebration of Edwin’s Life will be held at Stoney Creek United Church, King St. and Lake Avenue Drive, on Saturday, November 15 at 11 a.m. As an expression of sympathy, donations to Doctors Without Borders would be appreciated by the family.
