Mr.r Brendon was my math teacher in grade 13 and was my absolute favourite teacher ever!!!!
Was very honoured when he and the VP Mr .Weber challenged my best friend Doug Jess and myself to a game of handball at the YMCA. They whupped our butts by returning high slow bouncers glued to the side walls. Didn't matter to us we felt so lucky they went out of their way to engage us and act as wonderful adult friends!!!!f
Wonderful human beings affect so many lives. I feel so thankful to have had him in my life!
Never saw him again but have never forgotten him.
Thanks so much Mr. Brendon!!!!

Mrs. Brendon,David,Carolyn,Julie and Trina.
I send my deepest sympathies to all of you and your families for the loss of Mr. Brendon. I have many fond memories growing up on Durham with all of you and under the supervision of Mr. Brendon. Although Mr. Brendon was never my teacher at Orchard Park I was always happy to see him in the halls because he was my neighbour! Even though he has been gone from the old neighbouhood for a while now it is a lesser place without him there and being out for his run.
All my best wishes
Jeff Walker

Mr. Brendon was my math teacher at Central Secondary. I hated math but I really liked Mr. Brendon. I also had his brother, Alfred, as a teacher at Robert Land School. They both were good teachers and "nice guys". My condolences.

My deepest condolences to Walt's family. I had the pleasure of teaching with Walt at Orchard Park from 1973 to 1982.
Walt was a deeply committed and passionate teacher who inspired younger teachers to do what was best for our students. He ran a large cohesive department and contributed well beyond the classroom as a school leader.
Perhaps my fondest memory of Walt was at our yearly Staff Christmas parties at the Officer's Mess. He had a way of getting the party started and brought incredible humour to a large group of colleagues. I do not know how Joan put up with him but she always did it with grace.
Walt will be missed but I must thank him and my O.P. colleagues for a great start to my career and lasting memories of a great time.
Walter, Joan thank you for our time together.

My sincere condolences on the loss of your loved one Walt. I remember Walt at Scott Park Secondary School in 1966 as I was a student there but Walt was not my teacher.
I began teaching at Orchard Park Secondary in 1976 and met up with him again.
Walt was always a happy and fun loving individual at OP. He had a great sense of humor.
My prayers and thoughts are with the family at this time.

Dear Dave,
I was really very sorry to hear about your father's passing. Although it has been over forty years since I was in high school, and a lot has happened since then, I remember your father fondly as my science teacher and how I enjoyed his classes.
There were many memorable moments. Mr. Brendon always seemed calm and relaxed, even when the gas jets in the lab got lit up, the mercury which we rolled around in our hands ended up on the floor, or when he delighted us by losing his eyebrows while successfully demonstrating a dust explosion. He made learning fun.
High school is a time to learn and experience, but we were not encouraged to get to know our teachers. I always remember your dad to be kind, interested and approachable. He made a real impression on me.
He was an honour to his profession.
Please accept our sincere condolences to you, Brenda and your family.

I am so deeply shocked & saddened by Uncle Walter's passing. To me, Uncle Walter was always the epicenter of every party & family gathering he attended-- he entertained; he laughed; he was engaging... I remember him dancing 'Cossack-style' with Auntie Joan, & how impressed I was that he could do that... his love of music will last for generations, since now even his grandchildren have inherited that special trait & those talents. Bless him for having imbued such an important skill & talent into so many kids & grandchildren.
He was witty; he was so intelligent & observant --he was definitely an inspiration to me.... I treasure the few one-on-one encounters we shared as if they happened yesterday: one time, he took me on a big inflatable raft, far out into Georgian Bay, and we were going to float on the current all the way to the top of the peninsula... he made me feel very important, wanting to share that time with me.... sadly, the raft sprang a pinhole leak, & we had to return to shore, but that short while when I was basking in his intelligence & personality & attention were very, very special to me.
David; Carolyn, Julie, Trina & Auntie Joan; I am so very sorry for your loss today... but glad on your behalf that you had such a great man in your lives for as long as you did.

Dear Joan and Family,
I am sorry for your loss. Walt's obituary brought back many good memories of socializing together with others from Collegiate especially with Ron and Lin. I even remember teaching the kids, or trying to do so. Again, please accept my deepest condolences.

I am so sorry to hear of Walt's passing and my prayers and thoughts are with you all.
I loved attending your special gatherings for family and friends and enjoyed listening and watching Walt play the piano along with his wonderful talented family of musicians. He certainly left a legacy of beautiful memories for everybody. He will be dearly missed and I hope the memories of all the happy years you had together will help you through the difficult days ahead. Thinking of you.

Sue and I were saddened to hear of Walt's passing. Will always remember the great times we had at OP. Also was really lucky to have had him as a Department Head and a mentor. Do not think I could have made it through the first couple years at OP without his support..
