Obituary of George Ronald Koblyk
KOBLYK, George Ronald
Died peacefully and with dignity at Juravinski Hospital in Hamilton on Monday, September 5, 2016, 19 days before his 78th birthday. An award-winning and much loved teacher in Hamilton high schools and then Mohawk College, he was a lifelong volunteer for organizations ranging from the McMaster Alumni Association to Giant's Rib. He was a self-made and respected expert in stress management and tai chi and a passionate hiker, artist and tennis player. A devoted husband to Aria and loving father to Scott (Patty) and Liz (Scott), George delighted in being a grandfather to Miranda and Lexie, Will and Jax. George is survived by his sister Joyce Slusarchuk and remembered by Aria's sons Erik (Crystal) and Sander (Kelly). A celebration of George's life will take place at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 17 in the auditorium of his beloved Royal Botanical Gardens at 680 Plains Rd West, Burlington. George would have been grateful for memorial donations to Wellwood or to the George Koblyk Bursary at McMaster University. Arrangements have been entrusted to Donald V.
