I am sorry for being late in replying but I noticed Ron's death in the paper. I was stunned and saddened at Ron's passing. I worked with Ron at Dofasco on the furnaces. Ron and I were childhood friends in the east end of Hamilton (Woodward, Glow, Parkdale area). Age wise we were only 4 weeks apart. My family moved to Stoney Creek when I was 11 or 12. We were best friends at times and I have very fond memories. What I remember most was what ever we did we had a lot of fun. I totally understand why he loved his family so well, understanding his own circumstances he experienced. We lost touch but I had always thought of him and wanted to reach out to see how he was doing. I am thrilled he experienced life to the fullest with lots of love.

My heart goes out to the Gyoker Family . I met Ron 35 years ago and spent many fun years with Ron in the Melt Shops and outside of work. I watched Ron become a great father ,husband and grandfather . Dear Kel, I can't tell you how sorry I am. I was so looking forward to meeting Ron; I knew I'd like him just by how much you did. It was obvious that you both loved and liked each other so much, and it's not something you see every day. I've suffered tremendous loss myself recently and I know there's nothing to be said that will ease your grief... only your wonderful memories will do that in time and you'll be comforted by the things that made you both laugh. Not a day goes by that my brother, Tom, doesn't cross my mind. Sometimes I laugh, sometimes I cry, but he's always there. Thinking of you and your family at this incredibly sad time. Take pride in knowing you were all the light of his life, and remember he is watching down from heaven and smiling. I always love hearing the hysterical stories Taylor shared with me on what goofy things Ron was up to. His relationship with Kelly is admirable in every way. You have set a fantastic example for your children to follow. Cherish the memories and keep them close. Dearest Kelly and family, Our sincere condolences for your loss. Ron was a great co-worker and friend. I will miss running into him on a regular basis and hearing the updates about your family. And most of all his smile and how he made me laugh... every time! I'll never forget the time my dad and I ran into Ron and the girls at the children's indoor playground this summer. I knew he was helping out watching the girls, but he was a superstar Rampy. Packed lunches and drinks for the girls and watched them like a hawk to ensure they were happy and okay. Always a sweet and generous man. I will think of him (and you, Kelly) each year as we prepare for the Steelmaking Retirement Social. Wish I had the opportunity to say goodbye. Kelly, I remember when we worked together and spent so much time talking about families etc. Ron was the love of your life. You grew up together. I could see by the pictures and memories you shared how much you loved him. I am so sorry for your loss but hope the memories you have accumulated with him, your kids and grandkids can fill your heart when you are missing him. Take care and always thinking of you.
