Remembering with sadness yet grateful joy in knowing Don. From him in mom's Sunday school class, to Norma and Don allowing the Victors quartet to practice in their home, to Don graciously driving Mom and Dad on their 50th anniversary, to sharing evening services at West Highland. Truly a blessing to all our family. With gratitude in knowing Don. God's blessing to you Norma!

To Norma and the entire family. I have often wondered about Don and Norma and today just went on to search for an obituary! There it was. I served my apprenticeship with Don and Norma from 1962-65. They were some of the best years of my life! They were both wonderful people to work for and I got an excellent traiining. Don was a very compassionate funeral director and Norma was a wonderful help to us all. I remember when Don's father died and the visitation was held in Stoney Creek. The morning of the funeral we were setting up the chapel and Don looked at me with tears in his eyes and said, "You don't know what it is like until you go through it do you?" I could say more, but not now. You were lucky to have them as long as you did, but it is never long enough is it? My thoughts and prayers are with you all. John Saynor

Don was such a wonderful, sweet, gentle and warm man. When working at Amica Stoney Creek, I always found myself on the second floor visiting Norma and Don with their gentleness and making me feel like family. Don always found a way to make me smile, even on my worst days. Their love is like no other. Don looked at Norma like she was the whole world and nothing else mattered. May you Rest in Peace Don xo

My condolences to the extended Brown family. Donald was a very kind caring and helpful gentlemen. He became a friend of our family when he bought the Lake Avenue house from my parents while they were still renovating before we were to move in. He turned the house that had been a both a doctor's office and residence into what it is today; a business with a unique personal touch and warmhearted attentive staff. So our family moved a short distance to Winona instead of into the Lake Avenue house and I grew up there with my two sisters. Donald remained a friend of my parents for life. I like to say that the only time Mom and Dad stayed overnight at your house that they owned on Lake Avenue was when they died and we arranged their funerals to be back at our old house. It continues to be a home-like welcoming place where many others in our family have experienced the benefits of arranging funerals for our Grandparents, Uncles and Aunts and others.

Dear Mrs. Brown, Donna, Craig & family members;
We're saddened to learn of the passing of a wonderful human being. Don was always such a gentleman both on the job and while out in the community. He just dropped by our house last week while out on his morning route around the town. He was always looking for something to be fixed or repaired on our front lawn....lol.
He led a beautiful life. A life that should be celebrated, remembered, honoured, now and always.
With our sincere sympathy,

My thought go out to the Brown Family during this difficult time.
As a child growing up on Lake Avenue and attending the Alliance Church it was impossible not to run into the Browns. Such a caring, thoughtful and loving couple! Always a smile and a soft welcome. My fondest memory is the Halloween party held when I was about 11 years old at the funeral home, so much fun!
Mr. Brown, thank you for the memories, rest in peace!

To the Brown Family
My sympathy and prayers go out to Norma and all the family in the passing of Don this past week. Don and the Brown Funeral Home have been a part of my family (Whitfield) for as long as I can remember- Parents, Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles - when my Dad was diagnosed with cancer he wanted me to stop at the funeral home and talk to Don. Unfortunately Don was not available at the time but he did call me and assure me that he would be there for me and the family when the time came.
I will never forget that kindness he showed to me and I know he will be missed by his family and all the people of Stoney Creek and other areas. Rest in Peace.

My sincerest sympathies. I grew up at 6 Lake Avenue in Stoney Creek (Sharon Hildreth), and I remember as a young kid when they got married, it was so exciting, this fabulous young handsome couple that walked by our house almost every day....it was the first wedding I had known about...other than reading story books. Mr. Brown as I of course had to call him, called me "Little Sharon" his whole number of years walking by, even as I grew and got older. Mrs. Brown I would see at the hairdresser every week during my working years. They were an amazing couple their entire life. And Donald Brown Funeral Home laid to rest my mom and dad, and many relatives and friends. So they are and where the most caring couple in town. My heart goes out to Norma (Mrs.Brown). I haven't seen her for years as we left Stoney Creek. But I have so many memories cherished forever. God Bless. Sharon (Hildreth) Kresak

I ( Linda McIntosh ) first met Don in 1961 when my Grandma Hildreth passed away. I was only 11 but thought that Don was the nicest man I'd ever met. Who would have known that in the next ten years I would 'meet' him three more times when my other Grandma, Dad and Mom passed. He was so kind and helpful even offering to help me pick out the clothes my Mom would wear as I was in shock. Soon after more family members and friends passed and Don was just so professional and loving. We became even better friends when Sam and I started attending Stoney Creek Alliance Church and we really got to know Don and Norma in a more personal way. Don was always joking and I would always call him " Mr. Handsome ". We will miss this wonderful man who made our lives so much better by his presence in them. Rest in Jesus Don, you served Him well !
