Obituary of Jozef Tompa
It is with sadness that the family of Jozef Tompa announces his passing, in his 94th year, on May 8th, 2023. He slipped away peacefully, surrounded by family, at the Hamilton General Hospital.
He was born in Slovenia and came to Canada in 1955 with his wife Verona and son Joe. He was a hard-working family man and a proud retiree from Dofasco in 1991. He leaves behind his wife of 67 years, Verona, his sisters Maria, and Agata (Alois) Sarjas, his brother Martin (Dragica), his sister-in-law Norma (Ivan *deceased), his children Joe (Marlene), Mary (Andrew), John (Debbie) and Frank (Esmeralda).
He will be missed by his grandchildren Vince (Danielle), Andrew (Madelaine), Natalie (Dustin), Michael (Sarah), Rachel (Owen), Sarah (Jonathan), Nicholas and Ava, and great grandchildren Ethan, Freddie, Hudson, Hannah, and Helaina, and, by numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents Jozef and Eufemia, sister Teresa (her husband John Halas) and his brother Ivan.
Visitation will be held at the Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek, Thursday, May 11, 2023 from 5 p.m.- 8 p.m. with Prayer Service beginning at 5 p.m., officiated by Father Drago Gacnik.
Funeral Service will be held at the Donald V. Brown Funeral Home at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 12th with interment at Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, 681 Mud Street E. Stoney Creek.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation may be made to the Alzheimer Society, or a charity of your choice. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to everyone for their kindness and support during this difficult time.
