Obituary of Andrew Young Dalrymple
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Andrew Young Dalrymple on August 5, 2024, at 87 years old. He was predeceased by his cherished wife, Rose, and his brother, Bobby. Andrew is survived by his loving daughter Andrea, his adoring grandchildren Molly and Andrew, and his dear wee sister Jean.
Throughout his life, Andrew wore many hats. He began by playing in a band in Barrhead, Scotland as a saxophonist. After earning enough money to take the ferry across the Atlantic to Hamilton, Ontario in his early 20s, he started working as a skilled carpenter and sharing his love of dance as a ballroom dance instructor. A true Scotsman at heart, he proudly embraced his Scottish heritage. In his spare time, he was an excellent card player and a proud piper in the Dofasco pipe band. His bright and sunny disposition, along with his love for telling jokes and dressing up for a laugh, endeared him to everyone he met. Whether known as Andy, Drew or Andrew, his infectious smile and sense of humor touched the lives of many.
A Celebration of Life will be held in his honor on Saturday, August 10, 2024, from 1-3 p.m. at Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek. As an expression of sympathy, donations to the Cancer Assistance Program and/or Hamilton Health Sciences would be appreciated by the family.
Andrew's legacy of love and laughter will live on in the hearts of those who knew him. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten. Notes of sympathy and condolence may be left at www.donaldvbrown.ca
